Laos shows high respect to friendship with Viet Nam
Sisoulit, who is also foreign minister and head of the External Relations Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, made the statement during a reception of a delegation of the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Association led by its President Huynh Dam in Vientiane on August 8.
The Lao leader highly valued an initiative to hold a public contest on Viet Nam-Laos relations and a live-broadcast TV programme linking Vientianne and Ha Noi, saying that they helped boost traditional friendship between the two countries.
Later in the day, the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Association had a working session with its Lao counterpart led by its President Somkot Mangnormek, to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation.
Dam, who is also vice president and secretary general of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, and Mangnormek, who doubles as Lao Minister of Education, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation for 2007, calling for an intense public education of special relations between the two countries.
The two organisations plan to regularly hold exchanges of visits, information and experiences in an effort to fufill their tasks.
The Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with several chapters of the Laos-Viet Nam Friendship Association and visited a number of economic, cultural and educational establishments in Vientiane and Luongphabang during their visit starting on August 8./.
