President Triet meets Moroccan Special Envoy

The Moroccan Prime Minister, accompanied by businesspeople, will pay an official visit to Viet Nam to promote economic and commercial ties with this potential market, said the Special Envoy of the Moroccan King, who is also Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The Special Envoy of the Moroccan King, Taieb El Fassi Fihri, was received by President Nguyen Minh Triet in Ha Noi on Aug. 8.

President Triet told the Moroccan Special Envoy that he was satisfied with the development of the two countries' relationship over the recent past, citing the signing of several accords and agreement minutes to create a legal framework for the two countries to expand their ties firmly.

He described the Viet Nam visit by the Moroccan Special Envoy and the official opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Ha Noi as significant events to mark a new progress in bilateral relations.

Though located in two different continents, Viet Nam and Morocco have established ties long ago and share similarities as they are members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and the French Speaking Community, Triet noted.

He affirmed, "Viet Nam desires to further promote friendship and all-around cooperation, especially in economics, with Morocco."

President Triet expressed thanks for Morocco's support for Viet Nam's bid to join the World Trade Organisation and to run for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council in the 2008-09 term.

At the reception, Fihri passed on the congratulations from King Mohammed VI to Triet on his election as the President of Viet Nam.

Since being on the throne in 1999, King Mohammed VI has done his best to enhance the relations with Viet Nam, the Moroccan Special Envoy stressed, adding that Morocco regards Viet Nam as a main point in its recent foreign policies.

On this occasion, the Special Envoy conveyed King Mohammed VI's invitation to visit Morocco to President Triet./.(VNA)
