PM and Party official welcome Japanese ruling party delegation
The two party secretaries general affirmed that Japan would continue to provide Viet Nam with Official Development Assistance ( ODA) at a high level. They stressed that Japan placed importance on the development of friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Viet Nam, and supported Viet Nam's bid to soon join the WTO. They said they believed that Viet Nam would successfully organise the APEC economic leaders' conference in November.
The two secretaries general told PM Dung that the Japanese PM would visit Viet Nam for the APEC conference. They also conveyed the Japanese PM's invitation to PM Dung to visit Japan in the near future.
On the same day, Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, met with the delegation from the two Japanese ruling parties.
Mr. Sang thanked the Japanese Government, the two Japanese political parties in general and the General Secretaries of the Parties in particularly for their contributions to boosting cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan. He expressed his thanks to Japan for its support, especially maintaining high-level ODA funds for Viet Nam. He also said he hoped that Viet Nam and Japan would continue to promote their friendship and multifaceted cooperation in the future.
The two Japanese Party leaders expressed their pleasure at being able to visit and participate in the 2006 Japan Festival in Viet Nam. They congratulated Viet Nam on its successful organisation of the 10th National Party Congress and asked Mr. Sang to convey their congratulations to the Vietnamese Party General Secretary, Nong Duc Manh.
The two Japanese Party chiefs also expressed their wish that the renovation process in Viet Nam would continue to be successful and that the relationship and cooperation between Japan and Viet Nam would continue to progress.
The same day, Tran Dinh Hoan, former Party Politburo member and incumbent President of the Viet Nam-Japan Parliamentarians' Friendship League, received the two Party leaders from Japan and their entourage.
While in Viet Nam, the two Japanese Party General Secretaries and their entourage paid tributes at the Ho Chi Minh Masoleum and attended the opening ceremony of the Japan Festival and the Viet Nam-Japan Business Forum./.
