Vietnamese, Belgian Prime Ministers hold talks
PM Dung reaffirmed that Viet Nam has always attached importance to its relations with Belgium. He said that Belgium was a nation in central Europe, which played an important role in the European Union (EU). He also expressed belief that the two countries would develop their friendship under the motto of "long-term and reliable partners" in the years to come.
The Vietnamese PM expressed his hope that Belgium, as a EU founding member, would actively support Viet Nam in its international economic integration. He thanked Belgium for supporting Viet Nam's application for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council in the 2008-09 term. He reaffirmed Viet Nam's pledge to support Belgium for the same position in the 2007-08 term.
PM Dung also expressed thanks to PM Verhofstadt and the relevant Belgian agencies for the positive assistance given to Viet Nam during the "Viet Nam's Days in Belgium" and the ACCENTA Fairs in 2006, as well as the granting of a number of scholarships to Vietnamese students.
PM Verhofstadt expressed admiration for the achievements of the Vietnamese people gained in the renewal process. He affirmed that the Belgian government always supported Viet Nam in national construction and integration into the world economy. Belgium continued to regard Viet Nam an important partner.
The Belgian PM said he hoped that friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to prosper.
PM Dung invited PM Verhosftadt to visit Viet Nam and the Belgian PM accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
