French PMs begin Viet Nam visit

A delegation of the France-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentarians Group of the French Senate, headed by its President Gerard Miquel, began a week-long working visit to Viet Nam on Sept. 11.

During the visit, the French senators will hold talks with deputies of the National Assembly of Viet Nam on Viet Nam's economic prospects, the influence of the French economy in Viet Nam and France-Viet Nam cooperation.

They will visit a number of France-Viet Nam cooperation project in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho city and An Giang province.

The French Senate has conducted many activities in Viet Nam for years. Especially, since 2003, the French Senate and the National Assembly of Viet Nam have boosted their ties by reaching and implementing an inter-parliamentary agreement.

In 2006, the French Senate funded Viet Nam 140,000 Euros through cooperation projects. Noteworthy are the project on training senior officials of Viet Nam's civil aviation industry, the project on setting up a multi-media network in French language teaching at universities in Ha Noi, and the project on setting up a centre for science, information technology and communications at Da Nang University of Technologies.(VNA)
