APEC members share experiences in HR development
The seminar, jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the US Department of Labor, is part of preparations for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Human Resource Development Ministerial Meeting.
Participants discussed ways to enhance coordination between the public and private sectors, as well as between government agencies and social organisations and businesses in training workers and coping with human resources-related challenges.
They also touched upon issues related to the provision of unemployment allowances and encouraging businesses to create more jobs particularly for labourers.
The delegates agreed that development of the workforce was one of the major factors in economic development in the 21st century. In so doing, nations including APEC members must revise their policies on human resource development in accordance with regional and world standards.
They also emphasised that Viet Nam, which is currently integrating into the international economy and joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO), needs to work out a proper strategy on human resource development so as to improve its competitive edge in the global economy.(VNA)
