Ambassador to Canada presents credentials

Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hung presented his credentials to the Governor General of Canada, Michaelle Jean, in Ottawa on Sept. 26.

The newly-appointed ambassador said that Viet Nam will continue to accelerate its reform and its foreign policy of openness, multilateralisation and diversification and be active in international integration.

He also said he believed that multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Canada would be promoted following a visit to Canada by the Vietnamese Prime Minister last June.

The Canadian governor general spoke highly of Viet Nam's achievements in economic development over recent years and emphasised huge potentials for Canada and Viet Nam to broaden their cooperation for mutual benefit.

The governor general also expressed her wish for Viet Nam to successfully organise the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November. She described the meeting as an event of great significance for the Asia-Pacific region and affirmed that the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, will attend the event (VNA)
