Steering board for border demarcation to be set up

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Oct. 2 assigned the Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry to outline a plan to establish a State steering board for border demarcation and marker planting.

The two ministries were required to submit the plan to the Prime Minister in November.

The State Steering Board for Border Demarcation and Marker Planting will be the merger of the Government's steering boards monitoring border demarcation and marker planting along Viet Nam's land borderline with China and Cambodia, and the steering board overseeing the project to augment and restore the border marker system on the borderline between Viet Nam and Laos.

The Government's Steering Board for Viet Nam-China border demarcation and marker planting was set up under the Prime Minister's decision No. 109/2002/QD-TTg dated Aug. 16, 2002.

The Steering Board in charge of the project to augment and restore border marker system on the borderline between Viet Nam and Laos was established following the Prime Minister's decision No. 20/2005/QD-TTg dated Jan. 24, 2005.

The Government's Steering Board for Viet Nam-Cambodia border demarcation and marker planting was established under the Prime Minister's decision No. 388/QD-TTg dated March 9, 2006 (VNA).
