Prime Minister arrives in Japan
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, leading a high-level delegation from Viet Nam, arrived in Tokyo on the afternoon of Oct. 18, beginning his four-day official visit to Japan at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
The Vietnamese PM was given a red-carpet welcome at Haneda Airport in Tokyo upon his arrival.
After the ceremony, PM Dung visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan. Talking with the Embassy's staff, overseas Vietnamese and students living and studying in Japan, the PM briefed them of Viet Nam's socio-economic development progress, the foreign policies and the development of Viet Nam-Japan relations in all fields.
He stressed that Japan is an important partner for Viet Nam and the two countries' leaders wish to bring the bilateral relationship to a new level, making it a strategic partnership for the sake of the two peoples, for peace and stability in the region and the world.
He said the visit demonstrated the two countries' strategy for development, including the increase of japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam to carry out key projects which will contribute to Viet Nam's socio-economic development as well as bring practical benefit to Japanese investors.
In evening, PM Dung, his wife and other delegates attended a banquet held by the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentarians' Friendship League and several Japanese parties. (VNA)
