Investment promotion activities to be further intensified

The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) plans to intensify activities to attract more foreign investment in 2007, using new approaches and methods.

The MPI will send more delegations to key destinations such as Japan, the EU, the US and Taiwan and will set up representative offices specialising in investment promotion in Japan, the US and Germany.

The ministry has suggested the Prime Minister to promulgate a list of national projects calling for foreign investment in the 2006-2010 period. It has also asked localities to provide their lists of local projects in a transparent manner that help investors easily make decisions.

Last year, the MPI received about 400 delegations of investors, including multi-national groups, searching for business opportunities. It also organised investment promotion seminars in a number of countries including Japan, the US, the UK, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, France, China and the Republic of Korea.
