VN-Index rebounds, making highest level

The VN-Index rose 28.48 points to 786.19 on Jan. 4, making the highest level ever following a decline trend, particularly in the end of 2006.

Most of listed shares increased their value in the morning transaction section of the day, when the FPT share rose 22 points. However, there have been not much successful transactions since the demand was 3 times higher than supply.

Some investors said that the rise of the VN-Index partly reflected the market trend when demand for securities increased, while the number of newly listed shares declined.

In addition to that, investors often speculate shares at the end of Viet Nam's lunar year when their income increases.(VNA)
