General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Nong Duc Manh welcomed the leaders of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) in Ha Noi on Jan.10, and discussed ways to promote bilateral relations between the two parties.

In his meeting with JCP leader Kazuo Shii and his delegation on Jan. 10 at the CPV Central Commitee's Office, General Secretary Manh called for developing co-operation between the two parties, nations and peoples in the future for mutual benefit.

The party chief expressed his appreciation for the friendship and support extended by the JCP and the Japanese people for the Vietnamese people during their fight for liberation and for national reconstruction.

Shii, meanwhile, expressed his belief that under the direction of the CPV, the Vietnamese people would further record successes in national defence and construction, and in building a socialist, industrialised, modern, prosperous and strong country, and an equal, democratic and civilised society.

He thanked the CPV and the Vietnamese people for supporting his party's efforts, and called for further promoting friendship and co-operation between the two parties and peoples in the coming time.

Earlier, the CPV's related agencies briefed the Japanese delegation about the country's socio-economic development, policies on foreign affairs and principles related to the market economy, followed over the past years.
