PM to chair dialogue with CEOs in Switzerland
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will chair a dialogue with chief executive officers (CEOs) of the world's leading companies while attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.
This is the first time around 30 global leading CEOs, the highest ever number, have registered for participation in a dialogue with the Vietnamese PM, MoFA said.
On the sidelines of the forum, scheduled for January 25-27, the PM will also meet with the press regarding the issues of their concern, including socio-economic development achievements in Viet Nam.
The PM will attend a special session which will be held by the WEF to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
He will conduct meetings with around 20 state leaders and CEOs of multinational groups. Many state leaders and CEOs, including those from Intel, EDF, Credit-Suisse, Holcim and Metro, had previously proposed for meeting with the Vietnamese PM.
Prior to his departure for home, PM Dung and his entourage will meet the Vietnamese community in Switzerland.
Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, on behalf of the PM, will attend a session of economic leaders to discuss the Doha round of talks. The session will be chaired by World Trade Organisation Director-General Pascal Lamy.
Industry Minister Hoang Trung Hai will join some discussion sessions, including a session on the regional economic-trade cooperation future and the worlds economic prospects in 2007.
More than 40 entrepreneurs accompanying the PM, including general directors of big groups and companies of all economic sectors, will attend a business forum to be held in Zurich by the Vietnamese Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Viet Nam and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
The forum is expected to draw the participation from more than 70 Swiss businesses
