Vietnamese, Cuban communist parties cement ties

(VNA) - Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam are resolved to continuously increase cooperation and friendship with Cuba.

The Vietnamese Party leader made the affirmation when he received the Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPCCC), Fernando Remirez, in Ha Noi on March 8.

Fernando, who is also head of the CPCCC's Department for External Relations, told his host that the Cuban State, Party and people will do their best to lift the Viet Nam-Cuba relationship to a new height.
He conveyed an invitation from President Fidel Castro and Vice President Raul Castro to the Vietnamese Party chief to visit Cuba soon.

General Secretary Manh expressed thanks to the Cuban leaders for their invitation.

He congratulated the Cuban people on the achievements they made under the CPC leadership despite the unfair embargo.

He also thanked the CPC and the Cuban people for their precious support and solidarity with Viet Nam.

Earlier, Fernando and his staff were received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem. The delegation also held talks with a delegation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), led by Nguyen Van Son, member of the CPV Central Committee and Director of the CPVCC's External Relations Commission. The two sides discussed concrete measures to further boost the ties between the two parties and countries.

During their stay in Viet Nam, the Cuban delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, and visited his residence and working place. They also visited Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and several localities./.
