Viet Nam seeks stronger cooperation with Brunei

Viet Nam hopes to step up its cooperation with Brunei, especially in economic-trade, investment, labour, oil industry, and education-training, Vice President Truong My Hoa told King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei on March 27.

Receiving the visiting Vietnamese Vice President, the Brunei King appreciated the economic achievements Viet Nam has obtained over recent years. He said he believed that Viet Nam would become one of the most developed countries in the region in the near future.

On March 26, Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Hang, who was accompanying the Vice President to Brunei, met with Brunei's Minister of Home Affairs and other officials to discuss labour cooperation. The Brunei side pledged to recruit more Vietnamese labourers and organise seminars on labour cooperation in Viet Nam in the near future.

A day later, Vietnamese Minister-Chairman of the National Sports and Physical Training Committee Nguyen Danh Thai had a working session with the Brunei Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The two sides agreed to prepare to sign a cooperation agreement in sports field, including exchanges of coaches and sportsmen.

The same day, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Dang Huynh Mai made an agreement with her Brunei counterpart to give more scholarships to help Vietnamese students study in Brunei, increase the exchange of teachers, and prepare a cooperation agreement on education and training between the two countries.

Vice President Hoa and her entourage planned to return home on March 28./.
