Australian businesses keen on opportunities in Viet Nam
Tom Burns, accompanied by 20 local businesses, was received by President Nguyen Minh Triet on March 28, who welcomed Australian businesses to invest in Viet Nam and said the country has been doing its best to create a more open investment environment.
President Triet stressed Queensland's role in Viet Nam's development cause and expressed his belief that the cooperation between Queensland and Vietnamese localities would be lifted in the coming time.
The President said Viet Nam and Australia should increase high-level dialogues as well as exchanges at lower levels in order to intensify cooperation. The upcoming Viet Nam visit by Australian PM John Howard will be a chance for the two sides to discuss issues of common concern in detail, he said.
The Queensland envoy briefed his host of the relations between his state and Vietnamese localities, particularly its Vietnamese sister city, Ho Chi Minh City, in education and training, fire fighting, urban transport.
He also spoke of his delegation's fine sentiments towards Viet Nam, saying the country now is a safe destination for foreign investors and tourists.
Queensland has over 50 businesses entering partnership with Vietnamese counterparts and they plan to publish a book introducing business opportunities and environment in Viet Nam, the envoy revealed./.
