PM calls for closer IT cooperation with Cuba

(VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged the Ministry of Informatics and Communications of Cuba to tighten cooperative ties with the Vietnamese Ministry of Posts and Telematics, particularly in network security, thus helping to fulfill socio-economic goals in their respective countries.

While receiving Cuban Minister of Informatics and Communications Ramiro Valdes Menendez in Ha Noi on Apr. 2, PM Dung also asked the two sides to entrust the Inter-governmental Committee to review bilateral coordination in this field in the recent past and deploy the signed agreements.

The government leader expressed his delight at the recovery of President Fidel Castro as well as the development of the special friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba, including effective cooperation between the two ministries.

He spoke highly of Cuba's achievements in health care and education and believed that under the leadership of President Fidel Castro, Cuba will make more successes in all spheres.

PM Dung also affirmed that the Government of Viet Nam will do its utmost to further promote the comprehensive cooperative relations between the two governments and peoples.

For his part, Minister Ramiro Valdes informed his host of the results of talks with the Ministry of Posts and Telematics, under which the two sides signed agreements on cooperation in information technology and telecommunications.

The Cuban minister said bilateral cooperation agreements have been carried out on schedule and proposed the Vietnamese Government support projects which will be implemented by the two ministries in the near future./.
