Vietnamese, Thai friendship organisations enhance cooperation

(VNA) - A delegation of the Viet Nam-Thailand Friendship Association headed by its Deputy President Bui Hoan paid a working visit to Thailand from Mar. 25-31 to boost cooperation with the Thailand -Viet Nam Friendship Association.

They held a working session with the host to review their cooperation over the recent past and worked out a plan for 2007 and following years.

The two sides stressed their role as a bridge between the two countries to help boost bilateral economic, cultural and tourism cooperation in the context that the East-West corridor now has another the friendship bridge linking Savannakhet province of Laos with Mukdahan province of Thailand.

The delegation visited Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen provinces, which are home to large Vietnamese communities. They met with officials of these localities to discuss possibilities to expand the cooperation between these provinces and central provinces of Viet Nam in agriculture, industry, education and tourism.

They also met with overseas Vietnamese in these localities, listening to their opinions and encouraging them to actively contribute to their home country and the Viet Nam-Thailand friendship.

On the occasion, the delegation visited a Viet Nam-Thailand Friendship Village and a temple dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in Nakhon Phanom town.
