State President: Austrian ODA helpful to Viet Nam

(VNA) - The Austrian government's official development assistance (ODA) has been of practical help to Viet Nam, said President Nguyen Minh Triet while receiving the Austrian Minister of Science and Research Johannes Hahn in Ha Noi on April 5.

The State President expressed his pleasure at the fine development of the Viet Nam-Austria relationship as well as the ties between Viet Nam's Ministry of Education and Training and Austria's Ministry of Science and Research.

He also extended thanks to the Austrian government and people for their assistance to Viet Nam's national construction and development.

President Triet said he believed the two countries' relations will continue to grow and stressed that his visit to Austria this year also aims to lift Viet Nam-Austria cooperation ties.

The Austrian minister said that Austria is willing to share experience in training with Viet Nam.

Apart from offering scholarships to Vietnamese students, the Austrian government is also interested in sending students to Viet Nam for study and research, he said.

Minister Johannes highly appreciated Viet Nam's development achievements, adding that he wished Austria will rise to the top European Union (EU) countries in promoting cooperation with Viet Nam.

He expressed his hope that more Vietnamese universities will join the Asean-European University Net (ASEA-UNINET)./.
