NA Chairman: Viet Nam tries best to boost ties with China

The Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly and people have always attached great importance to boosting the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China, NA Chairman, Nguyen Phu Trong, said.

The NA Chairman made the affirmation while exchanging views with Chinese Party General Secretary and President, Hu Jintao, in Beijing, on April 10, during his current official visit to China.

Chairman Trong stressed that the Viet Nam legislative body will foster the implementation of agreements reached by him and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Wu Bangguo, and contribute to the development of Viet Nam-China ties.

The two countries have decided to boost exchanges of legislative delegations to learn experiences on law making, supervision and decision-making processes from each other.

The Chinese leader expressed his pleasure at the fruitful development of the two countries' relations. Those relations have been constantly developed in every field, following high-level agreements and bringing practical benefits to both countries.

President Hu added that bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, culture, defence and security were all on the rise. Outstanding problems from the past are being solved one by one and the two sides worked closely together at multilateral forums.

The Chinese president said that the two sides needed to implement agreed cooperation projects and develop new ones while striving to fulfill targets and agreements on land borders and the Tonkin Gulf demarcations.

Earlier, Chairman Trong and his entourage visited the China Central Party School where he met the school Vice President Li Junru.

The chairman extended his thanks to the staff of the school, which has supported Viet Nam's Ho Chi Minh Institute for Political Science in the past.

He said he hoped that two sides would continue sharing experience on staff training, and scientific research.

The same day, Chairman Trong met with Vice Chairperson of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPCCC) Standing Committee Wu Yun Qi Mu Ge.

The two sides agreed that Viet Nam and China, being close neighbouring countries with cultural similarities, could continue to learn a lot from each other as well as cooperate for future development.
