Vietnamese, Cuban legislators go to work

Greater cooperation between the lawmaking bodies of Cuba and Viet Nam would strengthen the firm friendship and comprehensive cooperation that the two countries already enjoy, said a Cuban parliamentary leader.

President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Ricardo Alarcon, made the comments while receiving a visiting delegation from the Vietnamese National Assembly's Law Committee, headed by its Director Vu Duc Khien, in Havana, on April 11.

During the same day, the Vietnamese parliamentarians visited the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and met with representatives of the Cuba-Viet Nam Friendship Association (CVFA).

Raul Valdes Vivo, Rector of the Nico Lopez High-level Party School, Melba Hernandez, MP and former CVFA President, and Enrique Roman, ICAP Vice President received the Vietnamese guests.

Vu Duc Khien said, the ties of friendship and solidarity shared between the two countries were important factors in enabling the two sides to achieve great victories in national construction and defence in the past and even greater achievements in the future.

During the trip, which began on April 7, the Vietnamese delegation also had working sessions with the Cuban parliament's Constitutional and Juridical Affairs Commission and met with the Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court and Director of the Procuracy of Cuba.
