Viet Nam, Tunisia eye closer bilateral relations

Viet Nam and Tunisia have agreed to boost their growing friendship and multifaceted cooperation to a new plane in the years to come.

Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem shared the consensus with Tunisian Foreign Minister Abdelwaheb Abdallah during their talks in Ha Noi on June 26.

The two foreign ministers expressed their desires to increase the exchange of visits at all levels in order to exchange information and further bilateral coordination at international forums, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Both host and guest spoke highly of the signing of an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, working and special passports; a protocol on political consultation between the two foreign ministries; and an agreement on tourism cooperation.

Minister Abdallah affirmed that Tunisia attached great importance to developing its friendly and cooperative ties with Viet Nam, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture and tourism.

The diplomat took this occasion to convey Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's invitation to State President Nguyen Minh Triet for an official friendly visit to Tunisia.(VNA)
