Viet Nam, Luxembourg facilitate investment ties

Viet Nam and Luxembourg have agreed to build a legal framework to facilitate investment ties between their businesses.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reached the consensus with Luxembourg Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Jeannot Krecke in Ha Noi, on July 2.

The government leader said he would back Luxembourg enterprises’ schemes to invest in iron ore mining and processing, telecommunications and finance in Viet Nam as well as open a Ho Chi Minh City-Luxembourg air route.

PM Dung also thanked the Luxembourg Government for its official development assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam’s economic development, education, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, safe water supply and environmental sanitation.

Minister Krecke said that Luxembourg is eager to work closely with Viet Nam in the areas of metallurgy, telecommunications, civil aviation and finance.

The official said that Luxembourg would continue to provide ODA for Viet Nam’s fight against hunger and poverty and that his country has protested the European Commission (EC)’s imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese shoes imports.(VNA)
