Luxembourg to launch direct air route to Viet Nam

Visiting Luxembourg Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Jeannot Krecke said his country would launch a direct air cargo route to Ho Chi Minh City, while attending the Viet Nam-Luxembourg Economic Forum, on July 4.

The Minister said at the HCM City staged event that the route to be brought on line in September will see the southern economic hub welcome two flights a week as a transit destination for Luxembourg's CargoLux Group.

The forum brought together 80 economic groups in diversified fields such as finance, cargo transport, industrial machinery manufacturing, steel and telecommunications.

On the same day, Krecke met with municipal Mayor, Le Hoang Quan where he said that he considers Viet Nam to be a burgeoning investment destination and that Luxembourg's "development assistance" status given to Viet Nam should now be changed to "assistance to an equal partner ".

The Luxembourg minister also showed a keen interest in Ho Chi Minh City's bustling stock market and hoped to work with the city on a Luxembourg funded finance and banking training programme that is currently underway in Viet Nam.(VNA)
