PM seeks stronger trade, investment ties with France

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has expressed his desire to beef up bilateral cooperation with France, particularly in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

While receiving the outgoing French Ambassador to Viet Nam, Jean Francois Blarel, in Ha Noi on July 16, PM Dung also urged France to support Viet Nam’s projects to upgrade the Long Bien Bridge and build the Ha Noi Medical University into a training establishment that meets international standards.

Ambassador Blarel said France-Viet Nam relations have been developing positively based on the three major platforms of economic cooperation, official development assistance (ODA) and political ties.

The diplomat also said that France will back Viet Nam’s bid for a seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.(VNA)
