PM: Swiss businesses welcome in Viet Nam

Viet Nam is eager to provide businesses from Switzerland with extremely favourable conditions if they invest in Asia's second fastest growing economy, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said.

PM Dung made the statement while receiving the visiting Swiss Minister of Economics Doris Leuthard in Ha Noi, on July 16.

The government leader also stated his wish that Switzerland would continue to provide official development assistance to Viet Nam, particularly in the areas of education and training and that his administration is committed to wiping out corruption.

Minister Leuthard said that recent economic reforms instituted by Viet Nam despite the challenges were not only fully supported by her government but also proved that the country is taking the right track to development.

On the same day, Minister Leuthard and Vietnamese Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Doan Manh Giao signed an agreement, in which Switzerland has decided to provide 1 million Swiss Francs to aid Viet Nam in implementing its WTO commitments.

Bilateral trade turnover between the two countries has surged recently to 1.5 billion USD with Swiss firms so far pouring a total of 750 million USD into the country.-(VNA)
