Coastal provinces to delve into ways to boost sea tourism
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) will play host to the event at the Romana Resort & Spa in the central province of Binh Thuan on July 25.
The "Developing Sea and Island Tourism in Vietnam" seminar will attract some 150 participants, including from the ministries of defence, planning-investment, culture-information and transport and other organisations.
The seminar will look into sea festivals which coastal provinces have organised as a key feature to attract local and international tourists, said Ngo Minh Chinh, director of Binh Thuan's Department of Tourism.
Attendees will also exchange experiences and opinions as well as present solutions for tapping tourism potential and developing sea tourism.
Chinh told the Daily that an agreement on tourism development cooperation between cities and provinces such as HCMC, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan would be signed on July 26.
The deal, which is expected to be inked at the Saigon-Mui Ne Resort, is aimed at creating a tour that will take in the upland province of Lam Dong, the coastal province of Binh Thuan and the shopping centre of HCMC.
The department, according to Chinh, will take this occasion to introduce to guests its natural scenery, hotels, resorts and entertainment services in Phan Thiet, which is home to 80 operational resorts.
In the past six months Binh Thuan reported total tourist arrivals of some 900,000, up 60% year-on-year, including about 110,000 from abroad. (Nhan Dan)
