56 seafood exporters to Japan to be exempt from antibiotic testing
The National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (NAFIQAVED) is to announce a list of 56 businesses to be exempt from testing for antibiotics and chemicals levels in their seafood exported to Japan on Aug. 1.
These aquatic product processors had had 10 consecutive shipments of products exported to Japan containing no illegal antibiotics by the end of June this year.
According to NAFIQAVED, the list will be updated every month on the 15th day and sent to the customs.
The Fisheries Ministry said this is a practical measure to ratchet up safety control over seafood exported to Japan.
Recently, the ministry has decided to apply urgent measures to control antibiotic and chemical residue in aquatic products, under which only those businesses that have obtained the State’s certificates for meeting hygienic standards are allowed to export to Japan.-(VNA)
