Viet Nam views Germany as top European partner
Ha Noi (VNA) – Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong said that Viet Nam considers Germany to be its top European partner and hoped an increase in investment, aid and law making activities were not far off.
The legislative leader made the remark in Ha Noi on August 31 while meeting with newly-appointed A mbassador Rolf Schulze and a delegation from the German Parliament.
Chairman Trong said that the two legislative bodies should also broaden their partnership through greater exchange of visits and proposed that the German Parliament assist Viet Nam in law making.
MP Koenigs Haus said Viet Nam is a important partner of Europe in general and Germany in particular and that he was delighted to see German-funded programmes be carried out efficiently.
Koenigs Haus went on to say that Germany and Viet Nam have developed a good political and people-to-people relations. Around 100,000 Vietnamese currently reside in the European political and financial powerhouse.
Last year, two-way trade between Viet Nam and Germany reached 2 billion USD.
