Viet Nam-Poland joint press communiqué


A joint press communiqué on Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung's official visit to Poland from Sept. 14-15th was released at the end of the visit.

The communiqué said: "Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Dzung paid and official visit to Poland from Sept. 14-15 at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The Vietnamese PM held talks with his Polish counterpart Jaroslaw Kaczynski and met with the leaders of the lower house and senate of the Polish parliament, speaker Ludwik Dorn and speaker Bogdan Borusewicz, respectively. PM Dzung also attended the Viet Nam-Poland business forum, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and visited the Imperial Palace in Warsaw .

"During the visit, the two sides signed an agreement on a credit worth more than 22 million USD for the Vietnamese shipbuilding industry and a cooperation agreement between the two countries' chambers of commerce and industry."

It went on saying that the government leaders of Viet Nam and Poland affirmed their determination to promote economic-commercial-investment relations between the two countries in shipbuilding, mining, pharmacy, farm product producing and processing, while expanding bilateral cooperation to tourism, labour export, environment and fisheries.

"The two sides appreciated the important contribution by the Vietnamese community in Poland to strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and pledged to continue creating favourable conditions for their lives, work and study, enabling them to contribute more to developing the two countries' long-term cooperation," the communiqué concluded.

PM Dzung and his delegation left Warsaw in the evening of Sept. 15, wrapping up the official visit to Poland .

Earlier the same day, PM Dzung visited the a trade centre run by Vietnamese businessmen and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Poland .

The Vietnamese Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the nation, the PM said. He also praised the overseas Vietnamese community's contribution to Poland and their role as a bridge to promote political, cultural and economic ties between the two countries.-(VNA)
