Italian companies expected to flock to Vietnam
The visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Massimo D’Alema, has said that an increasing number of Italian businesses will come to Vietnam in the near future.
Addressing a seminar entitled “Infrastructure and industrial development: opportunity for Vietnam-Italy co-operation” in Hanoi on October 8, he emphasised a shift in Italian businesses’ viewpoint on Vietnam.
D’Alema’s view was shared by Stefano Cartoni, a representative from Ariston Vietnam, who also said that many Italian businesses had consulted with his company on Vietnam’s investment environment.
Pietro Bruno, Vice President for Marketing and Commercial Affairs of Finmeccanica, said his group was willing to provide Vietnam with technology and equipment to build airports and railways, as well as to ensure maritime security.
Ship builder Fincantieri also planned to transfer technology, consultancy and supply cargo and passenger ships for the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin).
At the seminar, jointly held by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi and the Italian Trade Commission, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai pledged to create favourable conditions for Italian companies to operate in Vietnam. (VNA)
