Seminar reviews WTO commitments
HCM City (VNA) – Implementation of agreements on sanitary measures and trade barries by Viet Nam with European assistance were the focus of a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24.
The seminar was a part of the Multilateral Trade Assistance Project Viet Nam II (MUTRAP II), a project by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in partnership with the European Commission to better implement the country’s World Trade Organisation (WTO) commitments with regard to Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) agreements.
To help Viet Nam meet its requirements, MUTRAP supports the enhancement of communication at the national level by ensuring a high degree of coordination between ministries, other agencies, and provincial authorities, and provincial authorities sharing SPS or TBT competencies, and the business community.
At the half-day seminar, participants reviewed the country’s WTO rights and obligations and discussed the Vietnamese framework and its focus on the SPS/TBT process.
