NA Chairman urges promotion of Vietnamese-Sino co-operation
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong hoped that economic, trade, investment, cultural and tourist co-operation between Vietnam and China, including the northeast province of Heilongjiang, will further develop in the future.
The NA Chairman made the statement while receiving Zhang Zuoji, governor of Heilongjiang province, in Hanoi on October 30. Zhang is heading a provincial economic delegation on a visit to inquire into opportunities for co-operation and investment in Vietnam.
Chairman Trong said trade and investment co-operation between Vietnam and Heilongjiang has grown rapidly in recent years but there is still room for expansion as Heilongjiang has great potentials for agriculture, electric equipment production industry and tourism.
Two-way trade between Heilongjiang and Vietnam has increased from US $30 million in 2005 to US $77 million in 2006 and is expected to rise to US $100 million in 2007. The Harbin Electric Equipment Group has poured a total investment capital of US $450 million into Vietnam. (Nhan Dan)
