Workshop praises October Revolution
Russia’s Great October Revolution had given birth to an era of independence, freedom and socialism, the director general of Viet Nam’s Academy of Politics and Administration, Professor Le Huu Nghia said yesterday.
Its significance had not been matched by any other revolution and the results were vividly reflected in the lives of all humanity.
Professor Nghia, who was speaking at a workshop in Ha Noi to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Russia’s Great October Revolution – November 7, 1917 – November 7, 2007, – said that it had shaken the world.
The many socialist countries that stemmed from it had made an idea into a reality.
"The revolution had impacted the struggle for national liberation by colonised and semi-colonised countries, including the victory of Viet Nam’s Revolution," he said.
Peace, national independence, democracy and socialism were the goal that progressive people throughout the world had, or were trying, to achieve.
Focus of the workshop was the significance of the October Revolution and its impact on Viet Nam’s 70 years of revolution, including the last 20 years of Doi Moi or renewal.
