Nicaraguan, Brazilian papers hail Viet Nam’s achievements

Viet Nam’s renewal process (Doi Moi), initiated by the Communist Party of Viet Nam in 1986, has yielded great achievements over the years, said Nicaragua’s La Prensa newspaper on November 1.

Viet Nam’s economic growth rate has annually exceeded seven percent since 1990, La Prensa said, adding that the country has attracted close to 50 billion USD in foreign direct investment so far.

By boosting trade relations with about 180 countries and territories, Viet Nam’s exports have annually increased by over 20 percent, the paper went on to say.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s online “Exame” newspaper said Viet Nam is a new star among new emerging economies, becoming a spotlight for foreign investors.

Exame cited Pricewaterhouse Coopers, a worldwide prestigious consultant group, as saying that Viet Nam ranks the 1st among 20 new markets in the world in attracting foreign investment for industrial sector in the future.

Following US Intel’s one-billion USD project in Ho Chi Minh City, many foreign investors have poured their money into Viet Nam’s high-tech sector, the paper noted. (VNA)
