Viet Nam, Pakistan seek stronger relations

Viet Nam and Pakistan have agreed to increase the exchange of visits by officials from ministries, agencies and businesses to better explore each other’s potential and strength.

Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and Masood Khalid, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and special envoy of the Pakistani Prime Minister, reached the consensus at their meeting in Ha Noi on Nov. 5.

The officials decided to hold the 2nd meeting of the Viet Nam-Pakistan Joint Committee and the 1st political consultative meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2008.

Both sides praised positive developments in Viet Nam-Pakistan relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties (1972-2007). They also discussed ways to beef up the bilateral relationship as well as the ties between Pakistan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Earlier, Masood Khalid had a working session with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dao Viet Trung.-(VNA)
