Indonesian President expects closer ties with Viet Nam

Indonesia and Viet Nam should continue coordinating to further their economic cooperation, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said.

The Indonesian President made the remark at his reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Nguyen Huu Dung in Jakarta on November 30 after the latter presented his credentials to the president.

President Susilo said the two countries’ relationship has enjoyed a good time following his visit to Viet Nam in 2005 and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Indonesia in 2007.

He told the Vietnamese diplomat that the two countries now have a chance to lift their cooperation to a new height, especially after ASEAN adopted its Charter which provides a foundation for bilateral relations and other ties in the group to grow.

The Vietnamese ambassador pledged to do his best to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. (VNA).
