Viet Nam’s friendship delegation visits Chile
A Vietnamese friendship delegation, led by President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong, has wrapped up a four-day working visit to Chile.
While in Chile, on December 7, the Vietnamese delegation was welcomed and feted by Chilean President Michelle Barchelet at the Presidential Palace.
President Barchelet spoke highly of the Vietnamese people’s patriotism and brave spirit in the past struggles for national independence and unification and expressed her admiration at Viet Nam ’s renewal achievements.
The Chilean President said she believed people-to-people friendship will contribute to consolidating and developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Chile.
VUFO President Hong thanked the Chilean people for their solidarity and support to Viet Nam’s national liberation and unification as well as its current peace building and development.
Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation held a working session with the Chile-Viet Nam Culture Institute, the two sides then signed a cooperation programme until 2010.
They were also received by the Acting President of the National Assembly, the President of the Chile-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, the Acting Minister of Foreign Relations and the Mayor of Santiago de Chile City.
On December 8, the delegation left Chile for Boliva and Venezuela visits.-(VNA).
