(VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 10 met with the visiting Senior Minister of Singapore , Goh Chok Tong, who will be in Viet Nam until December 15.
At the meeting, PM Dung praised the visit by the Singaporean Senior Minister as a manifestation of the fine relationship between the two countries. For his part, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong spoke of Viet Nam ’s opportunities and potentials for development and expressed hope that the country would gain more achievements in the national construction and development. He said Singapore is willing to share experiences in socio-economic development with Viet Nam. The two leaders showed their satisfaction over the development of the bilateral relationship.
PM Dung underlined the results of the economic cooperation over the recent time, including the increase of two-way trade from 7.7 billion USD in 2006 to 8 billion USD in 2007, and the record of 9.7 billion USD in investment capital poured by Singaporean businesses in over 500 projects in Viet Nam .
“ Singapore ’s projects have proved efficient and actively contributed to Viet Nam ’s economic development,” he said, adding that the Government would further facilitate Singaporean businesses in Viet Nam .
The two leaders also applauded the implementation of the Agreement on Viet Nam-Singapore Connectivity, considering it as an effective cooperation mechanism. They agreed to expand cooperation to other fields, including sea port and storage, within the framework of the agreement.
