Viet Nam and Iraq reiterate increased ties

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said Viet Nam is willing to cooperate with Iraq in agriculture and proposed that Iraq join hands with the Southeast Asian country in building oil refineries.

Receiving Iraqi Trade Minister Abdul Fala Hassan Al-Sudani in Ha Noi on December 11, Deputy PM Hai also proposed that Iraq boost cooperation with the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in tapping crude oil in Iraq.

He spoke highly of the results of 17th meeting of the Viet Nam-Iraq Intergovernmental Committee, particularly the agreements on supplying rice and other farm produce for Iraq, as well as expanding cooperation in agriculture and oil and gas.

The Iraqi minister expressed his pleasure at the agreements reached between the two countries, particularly those on expanding cooperation in agriculture. He said he hoped that the two countries will enhance their cooperation in services industries and infrastructure investment.

Iraq would consider building an oil refinery and some farm produce processing factories in Viet Nam, he added.- (VNA)
