Central Highlands improves ethnic people’s life


Ha Noi (VNA) – Central Highlands provinces with the State’s financial support have been effectively carrying out programmes to provide land for farming and housing to poor people and ethnic minority groups, helping improve their living conditions.
Some 13,400 ethnic minority families in the region’s five provinces have been given over 4,860 ha of land for farming and close to 8,670 families provided with 262 ha of land for housing.
Provinces of Kon Tum, Lam Dong and Dak Nong combined programmes on irrigation development, agriculture promotion and technical assistance with the allocation of land for farming and forests for protection.
In addition, these provinces also have plans to develop infrastructure and provide safe water for poor and ethnic minority areas.
In 2007, close to 25,100 poor families received financial assistance to build and repair their houses.
This year, Central Highlands provinces will exert more efforts to make further changes in socio-economic development, improving residents’ living conditions.
