State President welcomes new ambassadors
Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam wishes to boost comprehensive ties with other countries, particularly in trade, investment and education, State President Nguyen Minh Triet told newly accredited ambassadors.
At separate meetings with new ambassadors from Pakistan , Ireland , the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Brazil and South Africa in Ha Noi on February 13 after the guests presented their credentials to the President, the host said that Viet Nam and these countries need to increase exchanges of delegations and views on matters of common concern.
Speaking with Pakistani Ambassador Ghulam Rasool Balunch, Irish Maeve Colins, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Mark Andrew Geoffrey Kent, Brazilian Ambassador Joao de Mendonca Lima Neto and South African Ambassador Ratubatsi Super Moloi, President Triet applauded the development of ties between Viet Nam and their respective countries in recent years.
The President and his guests agreed upon the need to tap cooperation potential in trade and investment to lift relations between Viet Nam and their respective countries to a higher level.
The foreign diplomats expressed their pleasure to come to Viet Nam at a time when the Southeast Asian country is emerging as an attractive destination to foreign investors and its prestige continues increasing in the international arena.
They appreciated Viet Nam ’s achievements in national construction and development and congratulated the country on becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-09 term.
They pledged to do their utmost to fulfill their missions, thus contributing to the friendship and cooperation between their respective countries and Viet Nam.
