Two-month FDI attraction hits 2.65 billion USD

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam drew 2.65 billion USD of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first two months this year, a 39 percent increase over the same period last year.
Of the figure, 2.5 billion USD were registered by 72 new projects while the remaining were added to 17 underway projects, according to the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Most of the projects focused on the fields of industry, services and agro-fisheries.
According to the Foreign Investment Department, the country entered the new year with several large-scale projects. Prominent are projects to build a 1.29 billion USD hotel-entertainment complex in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province by the US-based Good Choice Corporation and a 610 million USD centre for software production and information technology human resource training by Japanese companies.
With the 1.29 billion USD project that represented a half of the total registered FDI, southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province led the country in FDI attraction over the past two months.
Among 82 countries investing in Viet Nam , the US topped with 5 projects valued at over 1.3 billion USD, or 51.6 percent.
The mentioned period also witnessed the strong development of FDI businesses in Viet Nam , that earned revenues of 4.9 billion USD in the past two months, up 25 percent year-on-year.
