Viet Nam, Australia promote education cooperation


Sydney (VNA) – Viet Nam and Australia signed an agreement on education cooperation for 2008-2012 on February 26 during a visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan.
During the Feb. 23-27 visit, Deputy PM Nhan worked with Australia ’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Julia Gillard.
The deputy PM also attended the celebration of 35 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (Feb. 26) held by the Asialink Centre, Melbourne University, on February 26, where he stressed that Viet Nam would further promote bilateral cooperative ties.
For her part, Deputy PM Gillard affirmed that Australia would work harder to boost Australia-Viet Nam relations, particularly education and training cooperation.
Deputy PM Nhan also met with Minister for Trade Simon Crean, paid a courtesy visit to former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, and called at a number of universities and vocational centres.
Deputy PM Nhan left Australia for New Zealand on February 27.
