Swiss help promote competition laws
Ha Noi (VNA) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Embassy of Switzerland in Viet Nam launched a project called “Enhancing the capability of Viet Nam ’s competition authorities” in Ha Noi on February 29.
According to Swiss Competition Commission vice director Patrick Krauskopf, the project will boost the effectiveness of local competition laws and reinforce the constitutional capacity as well as ability to implement laws devised by Viet Nam’s competition authorities.
An effective competition law would help to increase customers’ rights, create level playing field between businesses and stabilize market prices.
Speaking at the ceremony, MoIT deputy minister Le Danh Vinh said that because Viet Nam had only recently developed a market economy, its competition regulators are quite new and still inexperienced.
Vinh called for further support and assistance from world competition authorities.
The Swiss Competition Commission announced it would begin to invite Vietnamese businesses to join the International Competition Network (ICN).
