Cambodia gives nod to another border gate with Viet Nam

Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian Government has given the green light to a proposal to upgrade the Som Rong-My Qui Tay border gate to international status.

The approval was made at the request of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng and an agreement at the third meeting of Viet Nam-Cambodia border provinces cooperation and development.

The border gate will be upgraded to meet the increasing demand for travel and trade between the two countries, especially for those living in joint border areas.

The move is expected to add to growing socio-economic and political cooperation between Cambodia and Viet Nam .

The Som Rong-My Qui Tay border gate between Viet Nam and Cambodia was first opened on July 31, 2007. It is located in Viet Nam ’s Long An province and Svay Rieng province of Cambodia.
