Viet Nam, Singapore ink judicial cooperation deal
Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam and Singapore will cooperate in building work and development of mechanisms for settling domestic and international disputes.
An MOU to the effect was signed during Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong’s visit to Singapore at the invitation of his counterpart S. Jayakumar from March 11-13.
The two sides pledged to work with each other in protecting intellectual property rights and improving laws on commerce, finance and banking, investment, goods and services trading.
Viet Nam and Singapore also agreed to set up a joint-committee to implement the agreement.
The Vietnamese and the Singaporean deputy PMs, during their talks, shared the same views on the potential of legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong said Viet Nam expects to learn experiences in building a legal system and judicial operation from Singapore .
Deputy PM Jayakumar, who is also Minister of Law, affirmed that Singapore is ready to share experiences with Viet Nam in order to constitute a modern legal and judicial system that meets integration requirements.
During his three-day visit in Singapore , the Vietnamese deputy PM paid a courtesy visit to PM Lee Hsien Loong and met with the speaker of the Parliament.
