Viet Nam targets effective foreign news strategy
HCM City (VNA) – Local media agencies should introduce measures to improve the quality of information and diversify operations, building an effective foreign news strategy that reflects the country’s growing place on the international stage.
The statement was made by the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretary To Huy Rua, who is also Head of its Commission for Education and Propaganda, at a conference that opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 14.
The conference, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, is being held to sum up the Party Secretariat’s development of foreign news services.
Rua told the conference that over the past 15 years foreign news has developed with strength in form and content.
It has made an important contribution to the stability and development of the country and helped show how Viet Nam is a peaceful, friendly and dynamic country with strong renovation, active integration into the international economy and full of potential, he said.
The number of media agencies and the volume and type of information on Viet Nam provided to foreign readers has increased sharply.
The Viet Nam News Agency (VNA) is the biggest provider of foreign news services with nine units that upload around 100 pieces of news and stories in English, French, Spanish and Vietnamese languages on the Internet every day.
