State President praises New Zealand education
Hanoi (VNA) - State President Nguyen Minh Triet has praised the education system in New Zealand and said the two countries should boost cooperation in this field.
The Head of State made this statement in his meeting with New Zealand Minister of Education Chris Carter in Hanoi on April 1.
President Triet was pleased with the recent development of good relations between the two countries, in fields ranging from economics to trade, education, culture and environmental protection. He also expressed his strong belief that Carter’s current visit would lead to stronger bilateral relations, especially in education and training.
In an expression of thanks to his host, Carter recalled State President Triet’s last visit to New Zealand as a landmark contribution to friendship between the two countries.
He said during that visit he recognised the fact that Vietnamese leaders have paid great attention to the cooperation of education with New Zealand.
Carter also told President Triet of a consensus, reached during his recent working session with Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan, to focus on improving English language for Vietnamese teachers, vocational training and post-graduate education for Vietnamese students.
“New Zealand is willing to send language experts to Vietnam to help English teacher training,” he said.
