Vietnam, Guangxi sign deals worth 780 million USD
The 37 contracts were signed in Hanoi during a four-day visit to Vietnam by a delegation of 100 Guangxi businesses.
During the visit, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee Secretary Guo Shengkun said Vietnam has been Guangxi’s biggest trade partner over the past nine years.
The Chinese official revealed that two-way trade reached nearly 2.4 billion USD last year, accounting for 15.7 percent of the total amount between Vietnam and China. By the end of 2007, Guangxi had poured 74.2 million USD into 85 projects in Vietnam .
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Bich Dat said projects funded by Chinese investors, including those from Guangxi, have contributed positively to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
He said the Ministry of Planning and Investment is creating all-favourable conditions for foreign investors, including Chinese entrepreneurs, to do business in the Southeast Asian country.
Having emphasised potential for further cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi, Guo pointed out traffic infrastructure, maritime transportation, mechanical manufacturing, agriculture and border gate economic development as prioritised areas for investment in the near future.
On the same day, a fair showcasing products from 150 Guangxi enterprises was opened in Hanoi.
